Game UX design intern
Type: Internship
Time: Aug-Nov 2020
Where I worked?
I interned in an FPS game team in NetEase Games, which is the biggest game company in China.
What I did?
1.Design & write interaction document

-
Under the guidance of senior designers, I designed several features such as the locking system, log-in page, in fight functions, etc and delivered visual design specifications and style guides to document.

2.Develop through CoCoStudio

-
Besides design work, I also responded to prototype interactions and page transitions through CoCoStudio. Most time, there's a lot of communication work needed to do with engineers and graphic designers, which guarantees high quality of final product.

3.Conduct case studies

-
I researched instant information display cases, identified both mobile and PC interface layout rules from twenty excellent cases including FPS and MOBA games. What I researched contribute to simplify current in-fight interface of our FPS game to provide a smoother user experience.
What I learned?
1. Design system and crierion

I became more detail-oriented and got to know we have to design for unusual interface such as error page or blank page to cover every possible situation.

2. Design power business

In the locking system design, I make the use of some locked condition as a potential scenario for introducing users to buy a paid feature.
3. Communication skills

Real world work is not a thing can be done individually. I collaborate with PM, developers and UI designers. This internship practices my skills of expressing my ideas and negotiate with other members in a team for a shared team goal: achieve the optimal effect for this game!
